Wednesday Addams: The 90’s character taking over the next generation.

Netflix’s “Wednesday,” has quickly become the megahit of the year, as the show has surpassed Stranger Things as the most-watched series in a week. Wednesday Addams, the iconic 90’s character, has been brought back into 2022 with new turns in her character storyline. The show is full of suspense and drama as it follows along Wednesday in her teenage years, as she attends Nevermore Academy and tries to unfold her psychic ability. The whole show focuses on “outcasted people” and the difficulties in dealing with what sets you apart. This show, directed by Tim Burton, has completely immersed a new generation into the nostalgia of the Addams family and has incorporated a more modern take on the 90’s fashion from the original movie.

Just as the show had a unique message and storyline, the wardrobe department left us speechless. Seeing what Wednesday would wear nowadays has revolutionized social media. On platforms such as Tik Tok, many users have been curating their closets to match Wednesday's fashion sense. Wednesday's character is very mysterious, emotionless, and dark, and she wears a colorless palette of black and white. If you want to opt for casual day-to-day Wednesday-inspired outfits, you can go for some black and white stripe sweaters, white collar shirts, polka dot dresses, black trousers, and for shoes, some Mary Janes.

I also wanted to take a look into Wednesday’s more elevated event looks; her ball dress had her black signature color, followed by some lace details, and ruffles. This scene has been described as her character's “pretty woman moment”. The audience was captivated by seeing Wednesday involved in teenage events such as high school dances, but never leaving behind who she truly is in her fashion.

Jenna Ortega, who portrays Wednesday on the show, has taken the character's fashion to the next level from the red carpet until her press tour. Jenna wore a breathtaking Versace Spring 2023 collection dress for the show's Los Angeles premiere. The dress had all of Wednesday’s elements, such as her signature color, lace, a slit, and a veil to die for.

Jenna Ortega, with her outstanding performance as Wednesday Addams, introduces this character to a whole new generation, representing the Latino community and a breathtaking fashion sense. Ortega has become one of Hollywood’s most promising young stars and current IT girl among the Gen Z audience.
