Beyoncé announces Renaissance World tour
BY: Gabrielle traylor
Beyoncé announced the Renaissance World Tour earlier this week and it seems like the whole world has noticed. The “Break My Soul” singer has remained on top of the charts since Renaissance was released in July 2022. Fans are determined to secure a spot in the crowd for the highly anticipated tour which runs from May-September. After her historic Coachella performance in 2018, fans and critics expect flawless performances that entertain you in more ways than one. Beyoncé is known for tying in elements of Black history and African American culture into her artistry and is praised for representing the community in a positive light.
Social media is buzzing in anticipation, with some users on Twitter trying to deter others from getting tickets with sarcastic reviews about Beyoncé’s performance abilities. Others have said that they’re “ready to fight” whoever so they could attend the concert.
The Senate Judiciary Committee even took note of the Renaissance World Tour. Earlier this week they issued an informal warning to Ticketmaster via Twitter after Beyoncé announced her world tour. The committee’s cautionary message, “We’re watching,” comes after thousands of people were scammed while trying to buy Taylor Swift tickets. Ticketmaster customers waited hours for a chance to buy tickets but never actually received them. However, for Beyonce’s tour, Ticketmaster has implemented a multi-step plan to ensure purchases are fair this time around. Fans will be required to register through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan Database in order to prevent resellers from buying all the tickets and uncharging.
The 2023 Met Gala Is Coming!
By: gabrielle traylor
The Met Gala is arguably the most popular event of the year for fashion. The charity event is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on the first Monday of May. Celebrity favorites pop out in creative outfits dedicated in some way to the Met Gala theme. This year, the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” is an ode to the late fashion designer who passed away at 85 years old in 2019.
Karl Lagerfeld
Karl Lagerfeld is one of the fashion world’s most prolific and celebrated designers. His iconic designs were appreciated by many, leading him to work for major fashion houses like Fendi, Chanel, and Balmain. While we can expect to see many variations of designs from these prominent houses on the Met stairs, it will be interesting to see designers that don’t interpret the theme so literally. Andrew Bolton, Met curator, says, "Even though one of his [Lagerfeld] facets was that he was a historicist, and he would revisit themes in his work, he was always looking to the future in his own work — he hated looking back at the past."
This year will be an emotional event for some as they pay tribute to a friend, peer, and mentor. Designers and stylists have plenty of inspiration to draw from Karl’s catalog which can be seen below.

2022 American Music Awards rundown
By: GAbrielle Traylor
The biggest night in music, the American Music Awards, aired last weekend and here are some moments you might have missed:
To no one’s surprise, Taylor Swift, the record holder for winning the most AMA awards ever, took home an additional 6 awards to add to her collection. After releasing her rerecorded album, Red (Taylor’s Version), the artist was pleasantly surprised by her fans support. “I cannot tell you how much my rerecorded albums mean to me,” said Taylor as she accepted the award for favorite pop album. “But I never exected or assumed that they would mean anything to you, so I can’t thank you enough for caring about this album that I’m so proud of.”
Other celebrities honored music’s most iconic talents on Sunday evening. Stevie Wonder and Charlie Puth sang a heartwarming tribute to Lionel Richie as he accepted the icon award. P!NK also sang “Hopelessly Devouted to You” in remembrance of Olivia Newton John who passed earlier this year.
And when it comes to fashion, your favs did not disaapoint. Machine Gun Kelly struted the red carpet with an eccentric, but on- brand, purple suit with protruding 12 inch metal spikes. Latto and Kali Uchis struted the red carpet with 2023 trends in mind and on their heads— feather and sheer. Latto wore a sheer black headpiece over slicked down baby hairs and a red lip. Kali Uchis wore a faux-feather hood with similarly styled baby hairs underneath. These ladies looked great with their eccentric headpieces.
