As the weather heats up and the days grow longer, it’s time to update your wardrobe with this summer’s hottest styles. From bold fabrics to vibrant colors, this year's summer fashion is all about mixing aesthetics and experimenting with different pieces to create a style with your name written all over it. Whether you're roaming the coast of France or simply having a night out with the girls, capturing the eyes of everyone around you is definitely a must, so get ready to revamp your closet and turn heads wherever you go with this summer’s most divine patterns, textiles, colors, and designs.

1. 90’s Stripes

From ringer tees to tube tops, ’90s stripes are making their ultimate comeback this summer, and your wardrobe won’t be complete without one. They pair perfectly with any jeans or jorts and are the perfect choice for warm, sunny beach days or even chilly nights at the lake. The stripes have a lively, colorful look to them, which is why we see them in so many classic summer films such as “Hot Summer Nights” and “Clueless.” 90s striped tops are cute, comfortable, AND versatile, so getting your hands on one of them this summer is a MUST.

2. Denim

Almost everyone knows denim jackets are closet staples, but this summer, denim will take over in all areas. Whether it's lunch with the girls or strolling solo through an art museum, a denim maxi skirt is the perfect way to dress up an outfit for a casual summer day. Many are also stepping out in denim on denim, a classic chic look that’s so easy to dress up. All you need are your favorite sunnies and a cute little baby tee and you’re good to go.

3. Distressed Clothing

Clothing covered with holes and tears isn’t new to the fashion industry: from ripped jeans to cut-out dresses, it’s been floating around for nearly decades. This summer, distressed clothing is entering a new era of fashion, and it’s 10 times better than the last one. Many are wearing distressed knit jumpers and long sleeves with oversized jeans and maxi skirts, as well as crocheted dresses with distressed detailing everywhere. One of my absolute favorite skirts is the Emily Watson “Tankini Skirt” that comes in many different colors and has a beautiful distressed and asymmetrical hem.

4. Asymmetrical Clothing

Asymmetrical clothing is making a huge mark on summer fashion this year. It’s time to dig out your basic winter long sleeves and turn them into the cutest backless, asymmetrical tops. Skirts and dresses with asymmetrical hems are also making their way around and those wearing them look absolutely stunning. The uneven placement of the clothing is reminiscent of popular clothing styles in the 2000s, which typically catered to flattering a woman’s curves.

5. Sports Jerseys

This summer, women are rocking sports jerseys as part of the new "bloquette" style that is taking over on Pinterest. The style is basically made up of wearing oversized sports jerseys or tops with more feminine pieces to create a unique look that appeals to both masculine and feminine styles. Many are styling the jerseys with midi and maxi skirts, Adidas Sambas, vintage belts, and infinite amounts of ribbons. If you need some “bloquette” inspiration, try an Argentina soccer jersey paired with a mini denim skirt, brown boots, a brown leather handbag, and white satin ribbons tied over pigtail braids.

While wearing ribbons may seem very simple, they are probably one of the most unique and versatile accessories to have this summer. The best part? They are extremely affordable and craft stores are brimming with different kinds of ribbons all year long. From lace to satin, there are so many different colors and beautiful designs to choose from. While it's most common to use them as a hair accessory, you can also tie them to your bags, shoes, and clothing to liven up an outfit you’re bored of.

7. Pearl

When I say pearls, I don't just mean the stunning gems that are found on necklaces and jewelry, I also refer to the iridescent and lustrous color that a pearl contains. The shimmery-pearl color has been growing in popularity over the last year, with many getting the “pearl” or “glazed donut” nails famously worn by Hailey Bieber. The shimmery iridescent shade is now popular among clothing as well and has been revamped as “siren” style clothing, usually consisting of distressed skirts, dresses, and tops.

8. Red Leather

Perhaps one of the most beautiful shades of leather ever created is the deep red leather that has been seen in so many fashion pieces all over the media. From handbags to boots, red leather accessories add character and are truly the perfect addition to a simple outfit. The deep red color of the leather can be very versatile and suits both a sophisticated, classy look as well as a casual chic look. Aside from its gorgeous shade, it also has the ability to elevate neutral-toned outfits with colors such as black, white, or gray— adding a more vibrant touch and pulling an outfit together.

9. Royal Blue

For many years, soft blues have been perceived as THE spring/summer shades, typically because the pastel tones match the clear blue skies. However, royal blue will be taking over as the ultimate summer color this year for both nails AND clothing. Although royal blue has always been overlooked, it truly is one of the most striking colors and it pairs beautifully with duller shades such as beige, brown, or eggshell. The color is also very common on the coasts of Europe, frequently seen in swimwear, accessories, and formal wear such as kitten heels and midi dresses.

While many perceive jewelry as the cherry on top of an outfit, I consider it essential; it’s hard to leave the house without some sort of dainty necklace or earrings. A necklace can truly make or break a look, and these 90s cord necklaces are going to make it every single time. Cord necklaces typically have a large pendant attached; ranging from thin seashells to steel hearts. These necklaces pair perfectly with casual summer dresses or long maxi skirts and since they don’t appear too formal or too casual, they are truly the best way to accessorize this summer.
